Ankle Injuries

Many times ankle injuries are caused by sprains or fractures. However, ankle pain has many causes. Injuries to the ankle are often accompanied by swelling, stiffness, redness, and warmth in the ankle area. The pain is often described as an intense dull ache that occurs when moving the ankle or putting weight on it. If your ankles are a source of constant or intermittent pain, it’s important to get them examined by a professional to make a determination for the best course of treatment.

Basic treatment may consist of rest, ice, elevation, immobilization, and may include non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

If you’re in the Akron-Canton area and need to request an appointment to discuss an ankle injury, contact us at Ohio Foot and Ankle Center. Always remember that when neglected, many ankle injuries which are easily treatable can become worse, leaving lifelong pain and doing serious harm.
